This memorial is in memory of the fallen of the First World War (1914 - 1918) and stands in St. Mary's cemetery.

It is polished red granite obelisk and is mounted on a square three tiered plinth

The craftsmen were W & E Wilks (masons), Gravesend

The Ordinance survey map reference is TQ 605 804

TO THE MEN OF STIFFORD WHOM THIS MONUMENT COMMEMORATES WERE AMONG THOSE WHO AT THE CALL OF KING AND COUNTRY, FOR SERVICE IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918, LEFT ALL THAT WAS DEAR TO THEM AND PASSED AWAY BY THE PATH OF SELF SACRIFICE.
